Not much is known about RIFT.io, a stealthy Burlington-based networking startup run by a former Cisco executive, but the company recently added $7.9 million in equity funding out of a $10 million goal, according to a regulatory filing.
A total of eight investors participated in the funding round and the date of first sale is listed on March 26.
RIFT.io is run by former Cisco executive Greg Alden, who was previously at Westford-based Movik Networks and Nexius Wireless. Matt Harper, the chief development officer and a co-founder, was previously at Tewksbury-based Starent Networks, which was acquired by Cisco in 2009.
The company has now raised a total of $16 million since it was founded two years ago.
